Massage Benefits: The Circulatory System

by Samantha Collins on 30th August 2018

Blood is pumped from the heart around the body through a transport system of arteries and veins. It distributes oxygen and essential nutrients to the whole body as well as removing potentially damaging waste products. Without a continuous blood supply, our cells will die and the body will deteriorate relapidly. The pumping action of massage improves circulation, speeding up the movement of blood in the veins and arteries. Massage therapists assist the heart by applying pressure towards it. This enables oxygen and nutrients to be delivered more quickly, meaning waste removal is faster and the body therefore functions more efficiently.
